Codorníu: Inventors of Cava

Codorníu, one of the oldest wine companies in the world, dates back to 1551 and is a cornerstone of Spanish winemaking history. The Raventós family, who own Codorníu, are the inventors of Cava, Spain’s iconic sparkling wine. In 1872, Josep Raventós successfully produced the first bottles of Cava using the traditional method of sparkling winemaking, cementing Codorníu’s reputation as a leader in the industry. Today, Codorníu continues to be synonymous with high-quality Cava, crafting wines that reflect centuries of expertise and innovation.

Sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of Codorníu’s winemaking philosophy. The family is committed to environmentally responsible practices, employing organic viticulture in many of their vineyards. By focusing on preserving biodiversity and reducing their carbon footprint, Codorníu ensures that their winemaking methods respect the environment. This dedication to sustainability not only protects the land for future generations but also enhances the natural expression of the grapes in their sparkling wines.
